On Wednesday 19th October we attended the Global Opportunities Fair at the Brynmor Jones Library, alongside our colleagues from Global Hull.

We are very pleased to announce our new partnerships with Saint Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Beverley, and The Boulevard Academy in Hull. Our teachers will be delivering regular cultural activity classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays from the beginning of November.
In Person Classes Resume
Following the arrival of six new volunteer teachers from China, we are very happy and proud to have returned to in-person Chinese classes. The levels range from complete beginners to advanced plus and mostly take place in the Global Hull Language Learning Centre at the University of Hull’s Brynmor-Jones Library.

27 April 2022 sees the return of the annual Chinese Whispers concert hosted in the University of Hull’s Middleton Hall!
The Chinese Whispers™ Project embraces culture and creativity. Its intercultural agenda focusses on developing awareness, competence and citizenship in local members of the community (children and adults) and facilitating respectful interaction between people from different cultural backgrounds. Its creative agenda promotes the learning of language and culture through creative practice, such as through choir singing. The Chinese Whispers™ Project celebrates its activities in annual public concerts that are hosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Hull. The concert involves students and staff from the School of the Arts in the University as well as children and adults who have participated in the Chinese Whispers™ Project.

Following the guidance of the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England, and the Government announcement to stop non-essential contact with others and to work from home where possible, we have decided that all our classes and activities will be suspended with immediate effect.
Our sincere thanks for your understanding and patience as we all face this considerable challenge.
To complement our updates, please actively check and follow Government advice which includes guidance to protect yourself and about travel.
The Confucius Institute at University of Hull (CIUH) was established in early 2016. Funded by the Ministry of Education of China, CIUH is a non-profit public institution whose stated aim is to promote Chinese language and culture.
CIUH also supports local Chinese teaching, facilitates cultural exchanges, as well as promoting research cooperation between the University of Hull and its Chinese partner, Tianjin Normal University (TNU).
